Without the Velis Electro, he wouldn’t have gotten his PPL

“The Velis Electro was the spark that convinced me to get my pilot’s license. I discovered this aircraft, along with flying, after reading a local news article in 2023 describing it as the first certified electric aircraft in the world.

Being passionate about innovation and engineering, I wanted to test this pioneering aircraft, which I immediately appreciated for its modernity, smoothness, quietness, simplicity, and efficiency. It’s a modern aircraft, in tune with its time, and a break from the older designs found in many flying clubs that would never have drawn me toward flying. Personally, I find it anachronistic to still be learning in 2024 how to prevent carburetor icing or prime the engine to start.

Having completed a large part of my training on the Velis Electro, I continue to enjoy flying as a licensed pilot on this aircraft and introducing it to my loved ones. Flying for 40 minutes while consuming just 14 kWh (equivalent to 1.6L of 100LL fuel) is fantastic, even though, of course, the flight program remains limited for now due to range constraints.”

The Pride of Flying the Velis Electro

I first walked into the Albi flying club for an introductory flight, hoping to overcome my fear of flying. The club had just added a Velis Electro to its fleet, and that’s the aircraft I flew in.

Imagine my surprise when, talking with the instructor, I learned that it was the first zero-emission aircraft on the market and that Albi’s club was one of the very first in France to have one!

I was immediately fascinated by this pioneering machine, and with the support of a passionate and encouraging instructor, I felt the urge to go further and start flight lessons. In a way, it felt like reconnecting with the spirit of aviation’s early pioneers—so deeply rooted in the Toulouse region!

Today, I’ve grown very attached to “Fox Alpha Québec,” and it’s a real joy to learn to fly on an aircraft that is both agile, quiet, and environmentally friendly. More broadly, I feel proud of my hometown flying club, which has embraced the ecological transition by adopting an efficient and forward-thinking fleet.

A Great Discovery at the 2024 French Young Pilots Air Tour

“I had the opportunity to fly the Velis Electro during a leg of the Young Pilots Air Tour. Before the test flight, I had some reservations based on what I had heard about the aircraft. However, as a pilot, I was pleasantly surprised by its performance. Being used to high-wing aircraft, the Velis Electro offered me a completely different flying experience. The sensations were indescribable—you really have to try it to fully understand.

I was surprised to find that, despite my expectations, the interior noise wasn’t significantly lower than that of a conventional aircraft—I initially thought I might not even need a headset. However, on the ground, the absence of noise was striking.

I would have loved to start my PPL training with such an aircraft. At the flying club where I tested it, they had two Velis Electro operating in rotation: one charging while the other was flying.

In short, as a user, I am convinced by this aircraft. It meets today’s expectations for reduced noise and environmental respect. It is an excellent technological first step toward a more decarbonized future for aviation!”

Testimony of a Pioneer in Her Flying Club

“Licensed as a private pilot since February 2023, I was very curious to discover electric flight—with great enthusiasm and an open mind.

With conventional thermal energy having seen its golden age, I believe we must embrace new alternatives with the curiosity and exploratory spirit of aviation pioneers. Based in Cannes, where there is no Velis Electro yet, I was motivated enough to travel several times to Aix to complete the electric variant training at Fly Provence, which boasts the most beautiful fleet in France.

The experience exceeded my expectations: flights are smooth, intuitive, and serene. As for the aircraft, it is modern, very pleasant to fly, and comfortable. Flying electric means freeing up part of your mental workload to fully enjoy the flight.

My only regret? That there isn’t one yet in my flying club!”
